The tour starts at 7:00 a.m. with pickup from hotels in central San Pedro de Atacama. Transportation is by car, minibus or bus. At the first stop, Yerbas Buenas, you explore petroglyphs surrounded by views of the Domeyko, Salt and Andes mountain ranges. Some of the petroglyphs are 6,000 years old.

See the colorful striped mountains of Rainbow Valley
In Rainbow Valley (Valle del Arcoíris) in the Domeyko Mountains, you can see colorful stripes on the mountains created by clay and minerals. The tour ends with a visit to Río Grande, a small village of artisans and farmers, and you return to San Pedro de Atacama at around 12:30 p.m.
