The high-speed train gets you there in 75–90 minutes for a quick, comfortable trip from the city to the snowy mountains. Options include reserved and non-reserved seats from Tokyo and a non-reserved seat from Gala Yuzawa to Tokyo. For a round trip, buy two one-way tickets.
Choose a reserved
or non-reserved seat
A reserved seat comes with a fixed train and seat number, and you board that train at the scheduled time. If you miss it, the base ticket stays valid, but the seat reservation must be rebooked subject to availability.
A non-reserved seat lets you take any train of the same type on your travel date, sitting in the non-reserved cars on a first-come, first-served basis. You may need to stand if seats are full, and you can upgrade to a reserved seat at the station for an extra fee.

When booking, choose your travel date and preferred departure time range (e.g. 08:00–08:30), and the closest available train will be assigned. After you send a passport copy, travel date and email address, the QR code e-ticket arrives by email within 1 working day on weekdays or 2 days on weekends.
Show your original passport and QR code at a JR East Travel Service Center, or use a reserved seat ticket machine with a passport reader (original e-passport required), to get the paper ticket and board.
※ Tickets can be booked up to 30 days before departure.
※ Oversized baggage of 160–250 cm must be declared in advance, and baggage over 250 cm is not allowed on the train.
