Highlights
Meet the creatures of the southern seas at io World Kagoshima Aquarium, on the Kagoshima waterfront facing Sakurajima. Explore exhibits themed on the Kuroshio Current with its whale shark, the coral reef seas of the Southwest Islands and the seas of Kagoshima. Enjoy dolphin shows and feeding sessions, too. On the waterfront facing Sakurajima:
io World Kagoshima Aquarium
This is an admission ticket to io World Kagoshima Aquarium in Honkoshinmachi, Kagoshima. Show your mobile ticket at the entrance to enter directly.
Opening hours are 09:30 to 18:00, with last admission at 17:00. The ticket can be used on any day within 60 days of booking.
The Kuroshio tank with a whale shark
The mighty Kuroshio Current flows off Kagoshima, bringing whale sharks, bonito, tuna and other fish. In the "Kuroshio Sea" tank on the 2nd floor, you can watch a whale shark swim.
The coral reef seas of the Southwest Islands
Coral reefs thrive around the Southwest Islands, stretching from Yakushima and Tanegashima to Yoron Island. Meet colorful reef creatures in the "Southwest Islands Sea" on the 2nd floor.
Dolphin shows and the seas of Kagoshima
During dolphin shows and feeding sessions, see the animals in action up close. On the 4th floor, the "Kagoshima Sea" exhibit centers on Kinko Bay.
