Leave Malang
for Lumajang below Mount Semeru
After pickup from your Malang hotel, drive about 2 hours 15 minutes to the Lumajang area. On the way, see rice fields, traditional villages and forested hills. A local guide accompanies you all day and shares stories about the natural environment and the region.
Admire the view from the Kapas Biru Waterfall viewpoint
The first stop is a viewpoint overlooking Kapas Biru Waterfall. Spend about an hour taking photos or relaxing as you watch the water flow through lush tropical vegetation.
Descend from the Tumpak Sewu viewpoint to the base of the falls
After a 30-minute drive to Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, admire the streams falling like a curtain along the semicircular cliff from the panoramic viewpoint. Following a safety briefing, trek down metal and bamboo stairs and rocky paths and cross a shallow river to the base of the falls. Surrounded by towering cliffs and the roar of the water, feel the mist (about 1.5 hours).
Explore the rock formations of Goa Tetes cave
Next, visit nearby Goa Tetes. Spend about an hour looking at the unique rock formations and patterns created over time by mineral-rich water dripping from above. After the tour, drive about 3 hours back to Malang.
