Meet the driver at Bangsal Port at 08:30, Senggigi at 09:30 or Mataram at 10:00. You travel by local shared transport to Kayangan Port, take the public ferry to Poto Tano on Sumbawa, then continue overland to Labuan Jambu, the gateway to Saleh Bay. The journey takes 8-10 hours or more, and you usually arrive and check in around 20:00.

Spend the night at local accommodation in Labuan Jambu

You stay at a local hotel or guesthouse in Labuan Jambu. As it is a remote area, accommodation options are limited and facilities may be simpler than city hotels, but rooms have air conditioning. Accommodation and room allocation depend on availability.

Take an early boat to the bagan and snorkel with whale sharks

On the second day, you wake up around 04:00, head to the harbor and board a traditional wooden begok boat with other travelers and local crew to the bagan. The boat ride takes more than 1 hour, and snorkeling usually takes place around 07:00. If conditions are suitable and whale sharks are present, you can snorkel and observe them in their natural habitat. A simple breakfast of bread, fruit, coffee and tea is served on the boat.
