Look over the vineyards from the Marlenberg Chapel

From the Marlenberg Chapel, set in the middle of the vineyards, you can see the whole Alsace plain. On a clear day your view reaches the Black Forest in Germany, while the Vosges Mountains rise to the west.

Your guide explains the idea of terroir, including sunshine, air circulation and soil, as well as Alsace grape varieties such as Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Sylvaner and Muscat.

Taste Alsace wines at a family winery

At the first family winery in the center of the village of La Couronne d'Or, see a wine-making room where modern equipment sits beside traditional large wooden barrels. The winemaker explains how the wine is made.

Enjoy two tastings accompanied by explanations of Alsace wines.

Visit a second winery and the medieval town of Obernai

Finally, visit a second wine cellar in Obernai and explore the medieval town on foot. Along the way you stop at Nordheim for scenic views.
