Meet your guide next to the Louis XIV equestrian statue in front of the Louvre Pyramid to start the tour. In front of the entrance, spend about 15 minutes hearing how the Louvre evolved from a medieval fortress to a royal palace and then a museum, before entering with your pre-booked ticket.
Admire masterpieces of ancient Greek sculpture
Examine ancient Greek sculpture in front of the Venus de Milo, and look up at the Winged Victory of Samothrace standing atop the staircase. Your guide explains the background and highlights of each work.
Explore painting masterpieces in the Grand Gallery
Walk through the Grand Gallery, considered one of the most beautiful spaces in the Louvre, and admire Raphael's Renaissance paintings, Delacroix's "Liberty Leading the People" and Jacques-Louis David's neoclassical works.
Finally, meet the Mona Lisa
The tour ends with the Mona Lisa, the world's most famous painting. Louvre rules do not allow guide commentary in the Mona Lisa room (Room 711), so your guide shares the story of the work beforehand. After the tour, you leave the museum with your guide in accordance with the rules.
