Mysterious deep sea outing
Aqua World Oarai Aquarium is one of the largest aquariums in Japan, covering an area of 20,000 m² and home to approximately 70,000 marine creatures! In terms of types alone, there are a whopping 580 species. Divided into a total of 9 areas, here you can see rare deep-sea creatures up close that you don't often see!
This is also the place where you can encounter the largest variety of sharks in the entire Japanese archipelago. Don't miss the fun shows featuring sea otters, harbor seals, sea lions, and other sea birds and penguins!

Oarai Aquarium
Oarai Aquarium is divided into nine different areas. Each area is filled with rare marine and deep-sea creatures, clearly demonstrating their own unique concept.
One of the concepts, the Ocean of Encounter Zone, has 20,000 fish of 80 species swimming freely in a 1,300-ton tank. In another huge tank, you can see sunfish with unique facial expressions. Although they are huge, you might fall in love with their cute appearance!
The largest variety of sharks in Japan
Oarai Aquarium is a place where you can encounter the largest variety of sharks in the entire Japanese archipelago. From relatively small and rare sharks such as short-tailed nurse sharks and coral cat sharks to true monsters of the deep sea, tiger sharks! Sharks of different appearances live in two tanks.
Find out where about 60 species of sharks, whose names are just as amazing, are swimming!
A show of adorable marine life
In the outdoor area 'Ocean Terrace', you can observe 360 degrees of adorable creatures such as California sea lions and Humboldt penguins. The indoor ocean theater hosts 'Dolphin and Sea Lion Ocean Live' every day. The dynamic jumps of the dolphins and the comical movements of the sea lions are a popular show that you cannot take your eyes off.
