The Blue Flames of Mount Ijen

Mount Ijen is famous for its continuously rising sulfuric gases and the world's most acidic lake. You can also witness the Blue Fire, a phenomenon where the erupting sulfuric gas catches fire from the volcano's intense heat. The Blue Fire is a spectacle visible only at night, occurring when a large amount of sulfuric gas meets the air and burns at a high temperature of over 36 degrees Celsius. Mount Ijen is where the world's largest Blue Fire is created, with blue flames reaching up to 5 meters.

It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to climb to the summit covered with the toxic yellow gas-emitting sulfur mine, 1 hour to go up and down the caldera lake from the summit, and an additional 1 hour to descend the summit, totaling about 3 hours and 30 minutes.
