Start with Muir Woods or Alcatraz
depending on your departure time

If you choose the 8:30 AM or 9:45 AM departure, meet at 488 Post St. (Cafe Encore), visit Muir Woods and Sausalito first, and then Alcatraz in the afternoon. If you choose the 9:10 AM or 10:35 AM departure, meet at Pier 33, visit Alcatraz in the morning, and then explore Muir Woods and Sausalito in the afternoon. You travel in a premium air-conditioned Mercedes Sprinter van.

Walk through the redwood forest at Muir Woods

Spend more than an hour of free time at Muir Woods National Monument, taking in the majesty of the old-growth redwood forest and the fresh forest air. On the way, stop at a Golden Gate Bridge viewpoint for photos. Muir Woods admission is not included and must be purchased separately at the entrance.

Explore the waterfront town of Sausalito for an hour

Spend an hour in Sausalito, a waterfront town with Mediterranean charm, and admire its houseboats and scenery. On the Muir Woods-first itinerary, you head to Pier 33 after Sausalito to take the ferry to Alcatraz.

Take the ferry and explore the prison on Alcatraz Island

Take the round-trip ferry from Pier 33 to Alcatraz Island and enter the prison. Walk the corridors with the audio tour and learn about the famous criminals once held here, such as Al Capone and George 'Machine Gun' Kelly.
