This small-group, one-way tour takes you from Christchurch to Queenstown in a single day, passing some of the South Island's most famous sights. Stop at Lake Tekapo and the Church of the Good Shepherd, then take in the glacier-fed waters of Lake Pukaki from the lookout. At Aoraki Mount Cook National Park you have about 2 to 2.5 hours to walk the Tasman Glacier View Track or the Hooker Valley Track, or explore Mount Cook Village at your own pace. A pre-ordered lunch from Fairlie Bakehouse, bottled water and New Zealand snacks are included, and groups are limited to 15 people.

Leave Christchurch and cross
the South Island to Queenstown
Your tour departs early in the morning from designated pickup points such as central Christchurch hotels and the Bus Interchange. As you travel south by minivan, your English-speaking guide shares the highlights of central Christchurch and stories about the areas you pass through. Groups are limited to 15 people, and Wi-Fi and USB charging are available on board.
After a short break in Geraldine, stop at Fairlie Bakehouse in the farming town of Fairlie. Famous for its pies, this is where your pre-ordered lunch is prepared.
Admire Southern Alps views
at Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki

Spend about 15 minutes at Lake Tekapo, taking in views of the Southern Alps and the tussock-covered landscape of the Mackenzie Country, and visit the lakeside Church of the Good Shepherd. Next, stop for about 10 minutes of photos at the Lake Pukaki lookout. Fed by glacial meltwater, Lake Pukaki changes color from pale icy blue to deep blue depending on the weather.
Enjoy free time in
Aoraki Mount Cook National Park

Enjoy about 2 to 2.5 hours of free time in Aoraki Mount Cook National Park. Walk the Tasman Glacier View Track or the Hooker Valley Track, or explore Mount Cook Village with its visitor centre and the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre. If you would like to see the scenery from the air, a scenic flight can be booked separately (extra cost).
At 2:15 pm, follow your guide's instructions to confirm the meeting time for the departure to Queenstown. Delays caused by other guests or road conditions may shorten the time available in the national park.
