Leave Christchurch
for Mount Cook
After pickup from a designated hotel in central Christchurch, travel by air-conditioned minibus to Aoraki Mount Cook National Park. During the roughly 4-hour drive, your English-speaking guide provides commentary, and Wi-Fi is available on board. On the way, take a short break in the historic town of Geraldine, where you can grab a coffee (at your own cost).
Visit Lake Tekapo
and Lake Pukaki
Enjoy about 30 minutes of free time at turquoise Lake Tekapo in the heart of the Mackenzie Country, visiting the iconic Church of the Good Shepherd and the well-known sheepdog statue. Then stop for about 15 minutes at Lake Pukaki to take in views of Mount Cook in the distance.
Have lunch in the national park
and walk to the Tasman Glacier
On arrival in Aoraki Mount Cook National Park, enjoy your included lunch. Choose chicken or vegetarian by adding it to the special requests section when booking or by messaging right after booking. You have about 2 hours 30 minutes of free time in total for lunch and walking.
Then take a short hike to view the Tasman Glacier, New Zealand's longest glacier at 23.5 km. Walks inside the national park are self-guided; the guide does not accompany you.
Return to Christchurch
via Tekapo and Geraldine
On the way back, take short breaks at Lake Tekapo and Geraldine. Drop-off is at designated hotels in central Christchurch, and the tour takes more than 13 hours including pickup and drop-off.
