When you arrive at the airport, a local driver will greet you with a welcome sign. Ride into the city in an air-conditioned vehicle, then meet your guide to begin the tour. As this is a private tour, the itinerary can be adjusted to your flight schedule. Below is the suggested itinerary.

Discover old Shanghai in the Old Town and Yu Garden

First, stop at the Old Town Bazaar to see its old architecture and street market lined with handicraft, art and souvenir shops and food stalls. Cross the zigzag bridge with nine turns in the middle of the town and take some memorable photos.

Next, visit Yu Garden, a 500-year-old Ming dynasty garden. Explore its unique halls, elaborate rockeries, ponds and lush greenery while your guide shares stories of the garden's history and culture.

Admire the skylines on both sides of the Huangpu River from the Bund

Head to the Bund and stroll along the Huangpu River. Admire the old and modern skylines together, from the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center, known as the "bottle opener", across the river in Pudong, to historic buildings on the Bund such as the Peace Hotel and the old Custom House.

Walk through People's Square, Nanjing Road and the French Concession

Stop at People's Square, the heart of Shanghai, and walk around the park. On weekends, you may have the chance to see the lively marriage market. Then stroll along the Nanjing Road shopping street, where you can try local street food such as soup dumplings and pancakes.

Afterwards, you can walk through the French Concession with its 1930s Shanghai-style stone houses, or go up to the Shanghai Tower observation deck in Pudong for a 360-degree view. If time allows, visit the Jade Buddha Temple, home to jade Buddha statues from Myanmar. If you have already been to these places, you can visit Xintiandi, Tianzifang, the Shanghai History Museum, the Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, the Shanghai Propaganda Poster Art Centre or the AP Plaza market instead.

At the end of the tour, you will be taken back to the airport for your next flight. If you have booked a hotel in Shanghai, you will be dropped off at your downtown accommodation.
