After pickup from your downtown Shanghai hotel, travel by private vehicle and tour the city's main sights with a professional German-speaking guide. The itinerary below is a suggestion; as this is a private tour, you can freely change the plan with your guide during the tour.

Admire the Huangpu River skyline from the Bund

Start the tour on the Bund, the colonial-era promenade along the Huangpu River. Look out over historic buildings such as the old Custom House and the Pudong skyline across the river while your guide shares the history and stories of Shanghai.

Visit Yu Garden, the old town and the Jade Buddha Temple

Wander the lively old market streets and cross the Nine-Turn Zigzag Bridge, said to bring good luck, while admiring Qing dynasty architecture. You can also enjoy some souvenir shopping. Then explore the ponds, pavilions and rockeries of the 500-year-old Yu Garden.

Next, head to the park around People's Square. On weekends you can see the local marriage market, or take a stroll along Nanjing Road. In the afternoon, visit the century-old Jade Buddha Temple to see the jade Buddha statues from Myanmar (Burma) and hear about its religious culture from your guide.

Walk among Pudong's skyscrapers and look down on the city

Move on to Pudong and walk the skybridge connecting the high-rises. On clear days, you can go up to the observation deck of Shanghai Tower, the Oriental Pearl Tower or Jin Mao Tower for a view over the city (admission extra). If you have already visited these sights, you can swap them for Xintiandi, Tianzifang, Shanghai Museum, the Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, the Shanghai Propaganda Poster Art Centre, AP Plaza Market and more.

At the end of the tour, you will be dropped off at your downtown hotel or another downtown location of your choice.
