Kyoto Sumo Club is the sister club of Asakusa Sumo Club in Tokyo. A real sumo ring, called a dohyo, sits in the center of the restaurant, letting you experience sumo culture up close. During the show, enjoy as much of the signature chanko nabe, various dishes and drinks as you like. This is not an official tournament or training session, but a fun, light entertainment show for adults and children alike.

The show opens with a geisha's traditional dance

The show begins with a traditional Japanese dance performed by a geisha in an elegant kimono, setting the mood before the sumo show starts.

Learn sumo techniques and watch retired pros compete

Watch a live demonstration of the wrestlers' morning exercises, and learn classic sumo techniques and basic rules in a fun, easy-to-understand way with English commentary. Then enjoy a best-of-three match between retired professional sumo wrestlers.

Step into the ring and challenge a sumo wrestler

If you are brave enough, step into the ring and challenge one of the sumo wrestlers yourself. Every guest receives a souvenir gift bag to remember the experience. Choose between standard seats with a clear view of the ring and VIP front seats for a closer view, which include a printed souvenir photo frame.
