The Sagano Scenic Railway in Kyoto is a tourist train that runs on the tracks of the old Sanin Main Line, which was electrified as the JR Sanin Main Line. The train, with its red body and gold and black patterns, travels 7.3 km between Saga Station and Kameoka Station in about 25 minutes, offering beautiful views of each season.

How to Get to the Sagano Scenic Railway

The Kyoto Sagano Scenic Railway can be boarded at Kameoka, Hozukyo, Arashiyama, and Saga Stations. 

1. When departing from Kyoto Station:
Take the JR Sagano Line from Kyoto Station and arrive at JR Saga-Arashiyama Station - go to the South Exit (about 17 minutes)

2. When departing from Shijo and Karasuma:
Take the Kyoto City Subway from Shijo Station to Kyoto Station, transfer to the JR Sagano Line - go to the South Exit (about 20 minutes)

Travel from Saga Station to Kameoka

It's even better because you can get off at Arashiyama in the middle and have a relaxing time! It's okay to just run! You can see a beautiful view, and you can see Arashiyama from the train, so it's really popular.

* Please note that you can get off the Torokko train in the specified section, but you cannot re-board.
