Saga Torokko Train
The Kyoto Sagano Torokko Train is a tourist train that is an electrified version of the JR Sanin Main Line and runs on the tracks of the old Sanin Main Line. The train, which has a red body with gold and black patterns, travels 7.3km between Saga Station and Kameoka Station in about 25 minutes, allowing you to see the beauty of each season.
You can ride a local-style train and view the autumn leaves and river from the window. The experience of riding a train and watching the scenery change beautifully with the seasons is only possible on the Torokko train, which is one of the reasons why not only Japanese locals but also travelers from all over the world flock to Kyoto as the seasons change.
Torokko trains can only be purchased on a first-come, first-served basis, so you must make a reservation in advance to travel without worrying about boarding.
How to get to the Torokko train
You can take the Kyoto Sagano Torokko Train from Kameoka, Hozugyo, Arashiyama, and Saga stations. This product is a 25-minute train ride from Saga Station to Kameoka.
1. When departing from Kyoto Station:
Take the JR Sagano Line from Kyoto Station to JR Saga Arashiyama Station - Go to the South Exit (takes about 17 minutes)
2. When departing from Shijo and Karasuma:
Move from Kyoto City Subway Shijo Station to Kyoto Station. Transfer to JR Sagano Line - Go to the South Exit (takes about 20 minutes).

This train is a downward train that travels from Saga to Kameoka Station. It's even better because you can get off at Arashiyama midway and have a relaxing time! It's okay to just run. It is very popular because you can see a beautiful view and see Arashiyama from the train.
