About the Host

Highlights

Enter FUTURE TRAIN KYOTO DINER & CAFE, built on a former elevated railway track in Kyoto's Umekoji area, and enjoy food and drinks in a futuristic train-themed space. Inspired by Japan's Thunderbird limited express, the venue is run by Sebastian Masuda, a pioneer of Japanese "kawaii" culture. After receiving a train-style ticket and passing through the ticket gate, step into carriages decorated with lighting and digital displays, and discover the immersive installation "Future Bird" in Car No. 1, which blends sound, light and animation. In the evening, you can also choose the "Night Parade Dinner Party" with unlimited drinks and a high-tea-style dinner.

Get your train ticket, pass the gate
and depart for the future

On arrival, you receive a train-style ticket and pass through the ticket gate to begin your journey into the future. The interior, designed like a real train, combines railway details, lighting, digital displays and playful design, and staff in station-attendant-style uniforms welcome you.

Experience immersive art in Car No. 1, Future Bird

Car No. 1, "Future Bird," is the most striking part of the venue: an immersive installation blending sound, light, animation, and digital and analog art. It is a must-visit spot for photos.

Enjoy train-themed dishes and desserts

The dishes combine Japanese and Western inspirations with playful train-themed styling to match the futuristic atmosphere. With the entry ticket, each guest must order at least one drink and one food item, and a visit of about one hour is recommended. Original merchandise is also available to buy.

Spend a special evening at the Night Parade Dinner Party

With the Night Parade Dinner Party, start with the immersive art experience in Car No. 1, then move to Car No. 2 for a high-tea-style dinner with a welcome drink, unlimited drinks, snacks and desserts. Railway-themed moments such as ticket clipping and fortune-style activities add to the fun. It takes about two hours, and you can choose from non-alcoholic, alcoholic or premium unlimited drink options.
