This day tour from Osaka visits all three Grand Shrines of Kumano (Kumano Sanzan) on the UNESCO World Heritage Kumano Kodo in a single day. Walk the Daimon-zaka path lined with mossy stone steps and old cedar trees, and take in the view of the 133 m Nachi Falls together with the three-storied pagoda of Seiganto-ji. At Kumano Hongu Taisha, take photos beneath the massive Oyunohara Great Torii, and end the day with a footbath at Totsukawa Onsen. On the bus, a multilingual audio guide tells stories about Kumano culture, and departure is guaranteed even with just one booking.

Leaving central Osaka early in the morning, this roughly 13-hour tour visits all three Grand Shrines of the Kumano region in Wakayama Prefecture: Kumano Hongu Taisha, Kumano Nachi Taisha and Kumano Hayatama Taisha. You travel by bus and take a break of about 10 minutes at the Michi-no-eki Yoshinoji Otou roadside station on the way.
A professional driver-guide accompanies the tour, with live guiding in Chinese, English and Japanese. On the bus, a multilingual audio guide shares the culture and history of Kumano, and a pilgrimage stamp booklet is provided so you can collect stamps at each shrine.

Spend about 50 minutes at Kumano Hongu Taisha, the heart of Kumano faith. Stand beneath the massive Oyunohara Great Torii for photos and receive a pilgrimage stamp.

You stay in the Nachi area for about 2 hours 20 minutes. Walk up the Kumano Kodo Daimon-zaka for about 20 to 40 minutes, along old mossy stone steps lined with cedar trees said to be about 800 years old.
Next, explore Kumano Nachi Taisha and Seiganto-ji, where Shinto and Buddhism stand side by side, and see the three-storied pagoda with the waterfall behind it. At Hiro Shrine in front of Nachi Falls, admire the 133 m waterfall up close.

Spend about 20 minutes at Kumano Hayatama Taisha, known for its striking crimson buildings, and see the sacred nagi tree said to be about 1,000 years old. Before heading back to Osaka, relax for about 30 minutes with a traditional Japanese footbath (ashiyu) at Totsukawa Onsen.
