Kim Choo Kueh Chang has been making Nyonya rice dumplings (Nyonya chang) and traditional salty dumplings (bak chang) since 1945. The dumplings are still made fresh every day at the original Joo Chiat Place shop.

Led by Edmond, the third-generation owners hold guided tours, talks and workshops to promote Nanyang-Peranakan heritage. They also customise sarong kebaya and batik, the traditional Peranakan costumes.

Explore Peranakan food and crafts
on the private boutique tour

This tour of about 1 hour offers a glimpse into Peranakan food and material culture. You can see how the traditional sarong kebaya and beaded shoes are made, and enjoy food samples and drinks with a curator. It is also suitable for children and families.

Learn Peranakan bead design
in the beading workshop

In about 2 hours, you learn the basic concepts needed to complete a basic Peranakan bead design. The workshop teaches the basic skills required to make Peranakan beaded shoes or slippers. A preparatory course is available on request only.
