Located in front of the west gate of Hozenji Temple in Namba, Osaka, the Kamigata Ukiyoe Museum exhibits ukiyo-e prints made in Osaka (Kamigata) from the Edo period to the Meiji period. The Dotonbori area where the museum stands has long thrived on theater, and the museum mainly displays actor prints depicting kabuki actors who performed on its stages. Take your time to enjoy the distinctive features of Kamigata ukiyo-e, which differ from those of Edo (Tokyo), along with gorgeous works made with gold, silver and copper powder.

Special exhibitions are held in the galleries on the 2nd and 3rd floors, and events take place in the Japanese-style room on the 4th floor. The galleries are dimly lit to protect the works, so you can borrow a light with a magnifier at the counter.
