Chiang Mai Joy Elephant Sanctuary Half-Day Tour - Waterfall Break Included

Meet elephants up close at a
jungle sanctuary near Chiang Mai

This half-day tour picks you up from your Chiang Mai accommodation and takes you to Joy Elephant Sanctuary in the jungle. Join either the morning or afternoon session to prepare food for the elephants and feed them, observe them walking through the jungle, and relax by a waterfall. An English-speaking guide and the sanctuary staff accompany you, and lunch, drinking water, elephant food and a towel are included.

The drive from your accommodation to the sanctuary takes about 1.5 hours. After about 3 hours of activities at the sanctuary and lunch, you return to Chiang Mai. The whole tour takes about 7 hours.

Prepare elephant food
and feed them yourself

Start your visit by preparing food for the elephants and feeding them by hand. Learn about elephant behaviour and care from the staff, and walk alongside the herd as they forage in the jungle. Joy Elephant Sanctuary runs an ethical observation program that respects the elephants' natural behaviour.

Relax with herbal tea
by the waterfall

After observing the elephants, take a break by the waterfall and enjoy herbal tea. There is no elephant bathing in this program. Bring swimwear and a change of clothes if you would like to get in the water.

Make a Thai souvenir
and enjoy lunch

Create your own traditional handmade Thai souvenir to take home as a gift. After about 30 minutes for lunch at the sanctuary, ride the minivan back to your accommodation in Chiang Mai.
