Chiang Mai Pon Elephant Sanctuary 2-Day Tour - Overnight Homestay

Spend a night with elephants
at a sanctuary in the Mae Wang Valley

This 2-day tour picks you up from your Chiang Mai accommodation in the afternoon and takes you to Pon Elephant Thailand in the Mae Wang Valley. At this sanctuary, rescued elephants live in the forest with no riding and no chains, and you meet and care for them with an English-speaking guide. Lunch, dinner, breakfast, one night in forest accommodation, a visit to Mae Wang Waterfall and bamboo rafting are included.

Cook dinner with your host family and relax in a forest cabin

After a drive of about 1.5 hours past hills, rice fields and waterways, arrive at the sanctuary and explore the forest where 18 rescued elephants live. In the evening, prepare a home-cooked dinner with your guide and share it with your host family.

After dinner, gather around the campfire or relax quietly in your private wooden cabin surrounded by nature.

Feed the elephants and walk with them through the forest

Wake up to the sounds of the elephants and enjoy breakfast on a terrace overlooking the forest. Then meet more rescued elephants and learn about the bond between elephants and their mahouts and the sanctuary's work.

Feed the elephants, walk with them through the forest, and watch them bathe in the Mae Wang River and forage naturally up close.

Finish with Mae Wang Waterfall and bamboo rafting

Before heading back, stop at Mae Wang Waterfall for a swim, then drift down the river on a bamboo raft for 40 to 50 minutes. You return to your Chiang Mai accommodation at around 5:00 PM.
