Program
Start with the Yangtze River Cableway
and Liziba Station
After pickup from your hotel in Yuzhong District, travel by car and ride the Yangtze River Cableway to enjoy views of the river and city from above (about 50 minutes). Then head to Liziba Station, a famous landmark where the monorail runs straight through a residential building, and take photos from the free viewing platform (about 30 minutes).
Discover history at the Great Hall of the People and the Bai Residence
Tour the Chongqing Great Hall of the People, a grand palace-style building next to the Three Gorges Museum, with an official on-site commentary (about 1 hour). After lunch at a local restaurant (at your own expense), visit the Bai Residence, a revolutionary historic site on Gele Mountain (about 1 hour). Originally a warlord's villa, it was later used as a secret prison.
Walk Ciqikou Ancient Town and old Chongqing lanes
In the old riverside town of Ciqikou, browse local snacks and shops and get a feel for traditional Chongqing life. Next, walk Shibati, the historic stepped street that linked upper and lower old Chongqing, and Shancheng Lane, an old stone path overlooking the Yangtze River. You'll spend about 1 hour at each of these three places.
End the tour at Hongyadong
Finally, explore Hongyadong, a complex of traditional houses built in tiers along the hillside (about 30 minutes). It is famous for its spectacular lights at night.
