From Kota Kinabalu: Bongawan Firefly & River Cruise Tour - Sky Mirror Sunset & Dinner Buffet

Depart from Kota Kinabalu
and head to the Bongawan River

Board the vehicle at the pickup point in central Kota Kinabalu and set off for Bongawan. On the way, you'll pass and briefly visit places such as a chocolate factory or the floating mosque (except Fridays). On arrival at the quiet Bongawan jetty, enjoy tea and light refreshments as a welcome, then get ready for the cruise after a safety briefing.

Look for wildlife on a mangrove river cruise

During the cooler part of the day, cruise by boat through the green mangrove forest. You can look for riverside wildlife such as long-tailed macaques and proboscis monkeys, and your guide will point out where animals are likely to appear.

Watch the sunset at Sky Mirror Beach

Move to Sky Mirror Beach, where shallow water left on the wide sand at low tide reflects the sky like a mirror. As the sun sets, capture photos of the sky turning orange, pink and purple, reflected beneath your feet.

Enjoy a firefly cruise after the dinner buffet

After a Malay-style dinner buffet at a local restaurant, board the firefly cruise, the final part of the tour. Your guide explains the life cycle and behavior of fireflies and asks guests to reduce lights and noise so everyone can see them well. After the cruise, return to Kota Kinabalu by vehicle.
