In this class of about 1.5 hours at a workshop on Van Mieu Street in Hanoi, make a Vietnamese silk bracelet with a local host. From a short introduction to silk to bracelet making and gold leaf decoration, you complete every step yourself and experience Vietnamese craftsmanship at a relaxed pace. Tea, bottled water and local snacks are served during the class.

Learn to tell mulberry silk
from blended fabrics

First, hear a short introduction to Vietnamese silk and traditional silk crafts, and learn the features of natural mulberry silk. Discover simple ways to distinguish pure silk from polyester blends by texture, sheen, feel and appearance.

Choose your silk pattern and beads
and shape the bracelet

Pick your favorite silk pattern and choose pearl or wooden beads. Place the beads inside the silk tube and secure each section to shape your bracelet.

Add your own design
with delicate gold leaf

Once the bracelet takes shape, add lettering or a hand-drawn design. Outline it with special glue, carefully apply the gold leaf and gently brush off the excess to complete your own silk bracelet.
