Make your own pottery on the wheel
at a Hanoi pottery studio
This 2.5-hour beginner pottery class takes place at Hai Doan, a pottery studio in central Hanoi. Learn how to use the wheel and basic techniques from an experienced instructor, then have your piece fired to take home as a souvenir of your trip to Hanoi. Classes are limited to 6 people, and an English interpreter is on hand.
Learn in a spacious, air-conditioned studio

The studio is air-conditioned, so you can work comfortably even on hot days. A pottery wheel, clay, tools and an apron are all provided, so there is nothing extra to bring.
Shape clay on the wheel with your instructor

Your instructor walks you through the basic techniques of working clay on the wheel. Even first-timers can complete their own piece, such as a cup or bowl, with the instructor's help.
Choose your glaze and finish your piece

Firing is not included in the class fee, but this lets you freely choose your glaze. Firing costs depend on the glaze and size of the piece, usually 50,000 to 250,000 VND per piece.
If you want your pieces sooner, an express firing service ready in 2 to 3 days is available (extra 300,000 VND for up to 10 pieces). If you are leaving Hanoi soon, you can also request shipping home via DHL or FedEx.
※ Firing, express firing and international shipping costs are not included.
