See Nagano's highlights in one day
Meet your guide at Nagano Station at 9:35 AM to start the tour. If you are staying in Hakuba, you can depart from designated Hakuba pickup points by the shuttle that runs in winter. Traveling by bus, you'll visit Zenkoji Temple, enjoy lunch with a sake tasting and see Snow Monkey Park in a full day.
Feel the history of Japanese Buddhism at Zenkoji Temple
After about 25 minutes by bus, arrive at Zenkoji, one of Japan's oldest and most important Buddhist temples. Explore the grounds with your guide for about 1.5 hours. Optional entry to the temple's inner areas is not included.
Next, enjoy a tasting at a hidden spot guided by your guide for about 30 minutes.
Enjoy lunch and a sake tasting at a local restaurant
After about 1 hour by bus, enjoy a lunch showcasing the flavors of Nagano at a local restaurant (vegetarian option available). Taste a variety of sakes and learn more about Japan's iconic drink.
Observe wild monkeys at Snow Monkey Park
Walk along the forest trail to Jigokudani Monkey Park (about 1.6 km round trip). For about 2.5 hours, observe and photograph the monkeys bathing in hot springs or playing up close. The tour ends at Nagano Station by 5:30 PM (by 6:45 PM for winter Hakuba departures).
※ Wild animals live in their natural habitat, so sightings are not guaranteed. On some days of the year, the monkeys do not come down to the park.
