Mount Batur in the Kintamani district is one of Bali's favorite places to start the day with a sunrise. After an early hotel pickup, an English-speaking guide takes you by 4WD jeep along unpaved roads straight to a perfect sunrise viewpoint. The tour takes about 9 to 10 hours.

Watch the sun rise over the volcano

Relax near the summit while waiting for sunrise, then take in Bali's forests, lakes, distant coastline and moon-like volcanic landscape as the first light appears. It is a perfect moment for photos.

Breakfast with a crater lake view

After the sunrise, enjoy breakfast at a scenic spot overlooking the crater lake of Mount Batur. Bottled mineral water is also provided.

Pickup times: Nusa Dua, Uluwatu, Jimbaran 02:30; Kuta, Sanur, Canggu 03:00; Ubud, Candidasa 03:15; Kintamani, Songan, Toya Bungkah 04:30. It is cold and dark on the mountain at dawn, so bring a hat, gloves, long pants and a jacket.
