From Bangkok: Kanchanaburi Death Railway & Hellfire Pass Day Tour (Hotel Pickup)

Depart Bangkok and
walk Hellfire Pass

After morning pickup from your Bangkok hotel, travel about 3 hours 30 minutes to Kanchanaburi Province in an air-conditioned minivan. Your first stop is Hellfire Pass, a railway section literally cut through the mountain. At the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum, hear stories of the suffering and resilience of the people linked to the railway's construction, then walk the trail yourself, spending about 2 hours here.

Ride the Death Railway

After lunch at a local restaurant near Nam Tok Station, board the Death Railway built by Allied prisoners of war during World War II. The railway linking Thailand and Myanmar (Burma) was named in memory of the thousands of prisoners who lost their lives building it. For about 1 hour 30 minutes, enjoy the views as the train crosses the Tham Krasae wooden viaduct along the cliffs above the Khwae Noi River.

Visit the Bridge on the River Kwai, the railway museum and the war cemetery

Explore and photograph the Bridge on the River Kwai, a symbol of the railway builders' hardships. Then learn the railway's history with your guide at the Kanchanaburi Railway Museum (Thailand-Burma Railway Centre) and visit the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, where those who died building the railway rest, before returning to Bangkok.

※ Hellfire Pass is closed on December 5, 24, 25, 26, 27 and 31, 2026, and January 1, 2027. On these days, Chungkai Hill (viewpoint and historical site) in Kanchanaburi is visited instead.
