South Mumbai Fort District Heritage Walking Tour

Explore South Mumbai's Fort district
on foot with a local guide

This is a walking tour of about 3 hours led by an experienced local guide. Follow the winding streets and landmarks of the Fort district while hearing about the area's history, culture and architecture. There is time for photos at each stop.

Start at Victoria Terminus and see colonial-era architecture

Set off from the meeting point at McDonald's and first explore Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (formerly Victoria Terminus). Then visit the Asiatic Society, St. Thomas Cathedral, Flora Fountain and the Bombay High Court for about 20 minutes each, taking in elegant Victorian buildings and traces of colonial rule.

Walk past the University of Mumbai and through Kala Ghoda

Walk by the University of Mumbai and through Kala Ghoda, home to galleries and cafés, and soak up the atmosphere of busy markets, bazaars and hidden spots in the heart of the city. You will also hear about the diverse communities and history that shaped the area's identity.

Finish the tour at the Gateway of India

Finally, see the seafront Gateway of India and The Taj Mahal Palace hotel right in front of it. The tour ends at the Gateway of India.
