From Mumbai: Elephanta Caves Guided Tour - Local Snacks Provided

We had a wonderful tour of the buddhist caves (Kanheri)! We had booked for Elephanta but the ferries were cancelled because of the weather, and the guide contacted us and offered another option well before our scheduled time to meet. The caves are located in a National Park with active widelife including many birds and two different types of monkeys. Some of the sculptures/carvings were exquisite, picturing many different buddhas and bottivistas, in varying sizes of caves (the largest being approximately two stories). We were also able to hike up to the top of the caves which gives an incredible view over the entire city (East and West). Our guide Kaushal was wonderful, sharing his knowledge of the site, the park, and the caves, not to mention many questions about Mumbai-- and when he didn't know, he said he didn't know! He was keen for us to experience the great food of Mumbai, and had many recommendations for the city and for eating after the tour. Highly recommend this tour!

Kaushal was so informed and friendly. He gave the best tour mixing current events with history and culture. We couldn’t have had a better guide. Definitely 10 out of 10 stars if we could rate him. The only request I have is to make sure that the website describes a bit better about what is included in the fee. I’m an avid reader and I still managed to miss that the ferry and cave tickets weren’t included. Nevertheless, we had a great time and Kaushal made it all the better.
