Take a ferry from the Gateway of India
to Elephanta Island
The tour starts at the Gateway of India. From here, take a ferry across the Arabian Sea and enjoy views of Mumbai's coastline. On reaching Elephanta Island, you can walk from the jetty or ride a small toy train toward the caves.
Explore the ancient rock-cut caves
Explore the ancient caves, famous for their detailed carvings and sculptures, with your guide. The main highlight is Cave 1, home to the majestic three-faced Trimurti sculpture, about 6 m tall. You can also see smaller caves with unique carvings, courtyards, and pillars that showcase the skill of early craftsmen.
Stroll the island or climb Cannon Hill
After the caves, stroll around the island, visit the museum to learn more history, or simply relax and enjoy the views. If you like walking, take a short hike up to Cannon Hill for views of Mumbai's harbour.
Return to Mumbai by ferry
