Explore the Buddhist cave site with your guide
The Kanheri Caves are a group of caves and rock-cut monuments carved for Buddhist worship into a massive basalt outcrop known as Krishnagiri ('black mountain') on Salsette Island. For about 2 hours 30 minutes, listen to your guide as you explore Buddha statues, reliefs, paintings and inscriptions dating from the 1st century BC to the 10th century AD.
Visit the Global Vipassana Pagoda (pagoda option)
With the pagoda option, after the Kanheri Caves you take a short ferry to the Global Vipassana Pagoda and visit for about 1 hour. It houses a meditation hall beneath a huge stone dome built without supporting pillars.
