Make your own glass cloisonné accessories at Kaito Tamatsukuri Workshop, about a 5-minute walk from Osaka Castle and close to JR Tamatsukuri and Morinomiya Stations. Glass cloisonné is a technique developed by the workshop itself, made by sandwiching cloisonné glaze between clear glass plates. Learn the steps and
choose your colors and design

First, workshop staff explain the making process for about 15 minutes. Then you spend about 15 minutes choosing your colors and deciding on the design of your pieces. You can make two pieces in any combination of pendants, earrings (pierced or clip-on), rings, brooches and key chains (5 types, 14 shapes).

Place cloisonné glaze on the glass plate to create your piece

For about 60 minutes, you design your piece by placing colorful beads and the workshop's original cloisonné glaze on the lower glass plate. With advice from the staff, you make it yourself up to the stage before firing. First-timers and small children are supported slowly and carefully. Depending on your design and color combination, you will create a piece that is the only one of its kind in the world.

The workshop finishes your piece and ships it to you

After you leave your piece with the workshop, it is fired in the kiln for about 1 hour, cooled slowly overnight and then taken out. Metal fittings and other parts are then attached, and the pieces are sent to the group representative. They are shipped within one week of completion, and the shipping fee is charged separately.
