DMZ, where the sorrow of the Korean War is fully contained
The 2km area where the South and the North agreed not to deploy troops after the Korean War is called the Demilitarized Zone, or DMZ. If the two sides are close together, there is a high possibility of military conflict and the problem of war recurring, so the role of the DMZ is very important. Since the DMZ was established in 1953, human access has been strictly controlled, so there is almost no environmental pollution and many endangered species of flora and fauna live there. Enjoy the beautiful natural scenery through the DMZ tour and remember the pain of Korean history.
Imjingak Park, where traces of war and peace coexist
Imjingak, located 7km south of the DMZ, is a representative tourist attraction in Korea where the tragedy of the Korean War still remains. It is a place where you can learn the value of peace while observing the painful traces of war. Imjingak was a tragic battlefield during the Korean War, and there are various war relics scattered around, such as the Imjin River Bridge, which was blown up in the early stages of the war and still remains, and the Freedom Bridge, which the ROK and UN soldiers who were prisoners of the communist army crossed to find freedom. There are also various facilities such as the 140,000-pyeong Peace Nuri, Imjingak Peace Gondola, the Korean War Abductees Memorial Hall, and children's playgrounds, so experience a unique tour!
Gwangjang Market full of delicious food
Dora Observatory is located on the summit of Mt. Dora, 167 meters above sea level, 1.5 kilometers from the Military Demarcation Line. When you climb up to Dora Observatory, you can see the DMZ, the Kaesong Industrial Complex, Kaesong City, North Korea's propaganda village, and Songaksan Mountain at a glance. It has now been rebuilt 12 meters higher than the old observatory and guards the northernmost point of the western front.
The Third Tunnel, where the history of division remains in detail
The Third Tunnel, discovered within the DMZ based on intelligence from a North Korean defector, is considered a very threatening tunnel, with a 2m wide, 2m high, arch-shaped structure that can move 30,000 troops per hour. Facilities such as the DMZ video theater, exhibition hall, symbolic sculptures, and souvenir shops are installed, providing various things to see for tourists, making it very popular with tourists.
