Kings Canyon is a massive sandstone gorge located in Watarrka National Park in Australia's Northern Territory. It's famous for its majestic scenery, featuring sheer red cliffs, deep canyons, and unique rock formations.
While Uluru and Kata Tjuta offer grand natural vistas viewed from afar, Kings Canyon is a destination where you can experience the landscape by walking through it.
Walking the Rim Walk Above the Red Cliffs

The signature experience at Kings Canyon is the Rim Walk. This trail follows the canyon's rim, offering stunning views of the red sandstone cliffs and the vast Outback landscape.
The full circuit is about 6km, with a steep climb at the beginning. Afterward, you'll encounter various viewpoints along the canyon's edge.
The view of the canyon from high above the cliffs is particularly iconic. It's important to have sufficient stamina and wear comfortable walking shoes.
The Garden of Eden: A Hidden Oasis in the Desert

One of the special spots you'll encounter on the Kings Canyon Rim Walk is the Garden of Eden.
This area features small waterholes and vegetation nestled among the red rocks, offering a different atmosphere from the dry desert surroundings.
It's quite striking to find greenery amidst the towering cliffs and rugged sandstone terrain. As this is a protected natural environment, activities like swimming are prohibited.
