This camping tour departs from Alice Springs or Yulara and explores Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon. Instead of swags, you stay in permanent twin eco safari tents with real beds, mattresses and bedding, so it is comfortable even for first-time campers. Walk Walpa Gorge at Kata Tjuta, watch sunrise and sunset at Uluru and complete the Base Walk around the rock. On the last day, hike the Kings Canyon Rim Walk past the Lost City and the Garden of Eden.

Walk Walpa Gorge at Kata Tjuta and
watch the Uluru sunset
If you start in Alice Springs, your guide picks you up from your accommodation at around 6:00 AM for a 4.5-hour drive south, with an early lunch on the way. If you join in Yulara, meet your guide at the front entrance of the Desert Gardens Hotel at 1:45 PM or at Ayers Rock Airport at 2:00 PM. Lunch is not included that day for Yulara departures.
Once both groups meet, head to Kata Tjuta, a group of 36 giant red domes, and walk 3 km (about 1 hour) to Walpa Gorge while your guide shares stories of this sacred site. Then enjoy light snacks as you watch Uluru change from orange to deep red at sunset.
At camp, settle into a twin eco tent with a real bed, mattress, bedding, pillow, towel and sleeping bag. Prepare dinner with your group, with shared hot showers and flush toilets nearby.
See sunrise at Uluru and
walk the full Base Walk

Day 2 starts with sunrise over Uluru. Walk all the way around the rock on the self-guided Base Walk (10 km, about 3 hours), while your guide shows you Anangu rock art and shares creation stories at culturally important sites. You can also see waterholes, caves and rock formations up close.
After lunch, visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre to learn more about Anangu culture and see crafts made by local Aboriginal artists. Then drive to a private camp near Watarrka National Park (Kings Canyon) and spend a starry night in a twin share eco tent.
Hike the rim of the gorge
on the Kings Canyon Rim Walk

On day 3, hike the Kings Canyon Rim Walk (8 km, about 3 hours). Climb to the top of the canyon, pass the beehive domes of the Lost City, descend to the lush Garden of Eden waterhole and walk along the edge of sheer red cliffs. Your guide introduces the Amphitheatre and the north and south walls. With the 2-night option, after lunch you drive about 5 hours north, arriving in Alice Springs at around 6:00 PM.
With the 3-night option,
enjoy a free evening in Yulara

With the 3-night option, after lunch you drive about 3.5 hours back to Yulara, arriving between 4:00 and 5:00 PM. Watch the Uluru sunset for free, or add a camel ride, the Field of Light, the Outback Sky Tour or the Wintjiri Wiru drone show at your own expense. Return to camp for dinner and your last night in an eco tent.
On day 4, after breakfast at camp, take the free 10-minute transfer to the Desert Gardens Hotel or Ayers Rock Airport. You can also store your luggage at the hotel, explore Ayers Rock Resort and take the free shuttle to the airport later.
※ The itinerary may change depending on local conditions.
※ Sunrise, sunset and starry-sky views depend on the weather and are not guaranteed.
