Osaka's hottest night spot! Visit the 'Osaka teamLab Botanical Garden'. This is a huge nighttime permanent exhibition hall that has transformed the 240,000m² Nagai Botanical Garden into an experiential art space. During the day, it is a botanical garden, and at night, it becomes an art exhibition space with sparkling illuminations! You can feel two different charms. While viewing the exhibition, you can experience firsthand how nature is sublimated into art.

Life is not defined by physical boundaries. Life is in continuity with the environment, an entity whose boundaries are ambiguous.
The massive sculpture depicts birds flying around, continuously emitting energy into their environment.
When a bird flies, its energy affects its environment, such as the flow of air.
At this moment, the wind blowing, the birds flying, and the memories of the birds flying from sunrise to sunset overlap.
The sculpture expresses the energy of birds scattering in the wind at this very moment.
If no birds fly around the sculpture, it disappears into the darkness as if it never existed.
Originally, there were no trees growing on the island where the sculpture stands.
To create a bird-friendly environment, plants were planted around the sculptures to attract insects that could become food for the birds.
As birds flock around the plants, the sculptures are created. However, the presence of birds and insects is supported not only by the island’s plants but also by the larger ecosystem of forests and lakes in the vast botanical gardens.
The sculpture itself transcends the boundaries of its physical existence and has a continuous and ambiguous relationship with its surroundings.

Each lamp on the surface of Lake Oike floats autonomously.
When a person stands still near the lamp or the wind blows, the lamp will glow brightly and make a sound.
The light from that lamp spreads to the nearby lamps one by one, resonating with the same tone and reaching the trees on the island in the middle of the lake.
When light comes from the other side, it means there are people there, and people become more aware of the presence of other people in the same space.
When there is no wind and no one is nearby, the lamp will start blinking slowly.

Anonymous characters walk along the trees of the forest. The audience makes choices as they encounter the characters. The Zen expression "Hoho kore dojo" says that every step is a place of learning. The characters in the work walk endlessly, facing new situations. As they encounter new characters one after another, people make choices along their own path.

The artwork is not a pre-recorded image that is played back, but is created by a computer program that continuously renders the artwork in real time. Previous visual states cannot be replicated and will not occur again. A photograph of this moment can never be seen again.

A camellia garden filled with oval shapes that change from day to night.
Under the sun, the oval reflects the world around it.
When the sun sets, the egg shape begins to glow on its own.
When the egg is pushed by a person, blown by the wind, or hit by rain, it shines brightly and floats back up on its own, creating a tone.
The surrounding ovals react in turn, resonating and emitting the same tone and bright color.
The egg-shaped shape starts blinking slowly when the wind is calm and no one is pushing it.
The shape can be changed to any of 61 newly defined monochromatic lighting colors.

The trees in the camellia garden shine brightly. The lights on each tree blink slowly and autonomously.
Resonant Microcosm of the Camellia Garden - Light transmitted from the liquefied light color changes the color of the light in the trees and creates a tone that matches that color.
The light from the tree spreads to the surrounding trees one by one, continuing to resonate with the same tone.

The densely packed ovoid shapes of light in the eucalyptus park move autonomously.
The oval shape changes color as people pass by or is blown over by the wind, rising again and emitting a tone that matches that color.
The surrounding ovals react in turn, resonating and emitting the same tone and color.
If there is no wind and no people around to interact with the oval, the oval's lights will start to blink slowly.
When light comes from the other side, it means there are people there, and people become more aware of the presence of other people in the same space.

This work is located at the entrance of a forest called Nagai Satoyama. When people stop within the space of the work, new lines are created and spread throughout the space.
The combination of lines transforms the trees into flat, layered shapes.

Universe of Fire Particles in the Forest - The flames of the secondary forest change shape due to the dark and absolute presence.
Flame is a phenomenon of light and heat generated by combustion, and is a substance that has been vaporized in the flow, that is, a decomposed substance.
The flame is our sensory experience of seeing something between appearance and reality.
We perceive these sensory experiences of flame as physical objects and sometimes feel that there is life within them.
Lines are drawn along the flow of burning gases, and these lines are accumulated in three dimensions to create a flame.
TeamLab then uses what they consider to be a hypersubjective space to “flatten” the lines to create the flames.

teamLab explores the concept of distributed art.
When you run the smartphone application and approach the artwork, a firework will ignite on your phone, and you can take the artwork home.
If you bring this flame close to another person's smartphone, the flame will ignite on their smartphone as well.
When you connect your sparks and connect your sparks with other people, your sparks will spread all over the world.
These dispersed flames are displayed on the flame map.

Distributed art is art that replicates itself or distributes parts of the work to people.
And works of art that fall into the hands of people are distributed more actively and even replicate themselves.
Artworks are distributed and exist in a network of people, and they are decentralized. If a work of art exists in a network, it will continue to exist even if the original disappears.

The pink muhly grass glows brightly. When people stand still near it, the grass glows brighter and makes a sound. The light of the larch trees shines brightly when a person passes by, and at the same time, it resonates with its own unique tone. Then, the light is transmitted to other larch trees nearby, and the tone is spread out in a chain. If the light is coming from that direction, it means that someone is in that direction.
People will certainly be more conscious of the presence of others in the same space than usual.

The light of the banyan tree shines more brightly as people pass by, and it resonates with its own unique tone. And that light is transmitted to other banyan trees around it, and it spreads out while resonating with a continuous tone. If the light is coming from that direction, it means that there is a person in that direction. People will definitely be more aware of the presence of other people in the same space than usual.
