Highlights
The Yangmingshan US military dormitory complex, where US military officers and their families lived from the 1950s to 1979, still retains its original appearance today. This area of approximately 13.88 hectares still contains many of the 150 or so American-style buildings built at the time, creating an atmosphere similar to a quiet American town. Here, you can catch a glimpse of the architectural style and lifestyle of the time, and some of the buildings have been renovated into restaurants and cafes, open to visitors for free viewing. Follow the hand-drawn map to experience the lives of US military families in the past and discover special historical traces.

Inside the Yangmingshan US military dormitory complex, there is a Catholic church with a unique architectural style. At that time, Catholicism was not widespread in Taiwan, but this church was built for US military families, and it has a unique atmosphere with traditional Chinese architectural elements and Western styles. At the entrance to the church, there is a stone lion commonly seen in Chinese temples, and the murals and ceiling decorations inside show an exquisite blend of Western religion and Eastern aesthetics. The Virgin Mary in Tang Dynasty costume and the Chinese-style roofed cathedral are special sights that can only be seen here, making it an interesting place to feel the historical changes of Taipei.
