BESTWow~ I couldn't find the museum here ㅜㅜ After wandering for 20 minutes, I left it for 5 minutes and turned around in an instant. Be sure to check the entrance of the museum with the guide. If you go with a child, they give you more rice and a bowl of side dishes as a free service~ Full of Taiwanese grandmother's heart♡ People are kind to you~ Even if you don't go into the museum, the promenade is so pretty♡
Meet 220kg of pure gold,
Gold Museum
Jinguashi is a town in Ruifang District, New Taipei City, Taiwan, and was once a gold mine. In the latter half of the 20th century, the town fell into decline due to the depletion of gold, but has now become a tourist attraction and is once again popular with visitors. The gold museum located here houses 99% pure, 220kg gold, which many people visit to see. What’s even more surprising is that you can touch the gold yourself.
There is also a famous miner's lunch box at the Jinguashi Gold Museum, and eating it is also a special pleasure.
To meet the 220kg gold bar,
Let's go to the Jinguashi Gold Museum
The Jinguashi Gold Museum is a must-see when traveling to Taipei. It is a former coal mining area, so it feels like you are in a coal mine, and the remnants of the Japanese colonial period still remain, so you can feel like you are in Japan at the same time. At the Gold Museum, you can see various mining equipment used in coal mines, and indirectly experience the situation at that time in the video room.
In addition, there is an exhibition of gold ornaments made from gold listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. Come see a huge gold bar that is 99.9% pure and weighs a whopping 220 kg. It is said that if you touch this gold bar, you will be blessed, so be sure to touch it.
Here's how to get to the Jinguashi Gold Museum
The Jinguashi Gold Museum is usually divided into two routes: going directly from downtown Taipei or going from Yeliu. So I will introduce both routes, going from downtown Taipei and going from Yeliu.
1. Getting around Taipei City Center:
From Exit 1 of Zhongxiao Fuxing Station, take Bus No. 1062 bound for Jinguashi.
Duration: Approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes
*This bus also visits Jiufen.
2. Moving from the reserve:
Take bus no. 790 or 862 from Yeliu and get off at Keelung (final stop) - transfer to bus no. 788 at Keelung - get off at Jinguashi
Interval between departures: Approximately 10 - 15 minutes
Duration: Approximately 40 minutes
Let's meet the gold that weighs 220kg
The 220kg gold on display near the exit of the Gold Museum is the highlight of the Gold Museum and the most popular photo spot. There are holes on both sides where you can put your hands and touch the gold.
It would also be good to try gold panning
You can also experience gold panning at the Gold Museum, and it started to gain popularity after a scene of gold panning was shown in the TV show “Let’s Eat Dinner Together.”
You can also experience a tunnel, visiting a mining site that is about 100m long. This became popular after Lee Seo-jin appeared in the last episode of Grandpas Over Flowers Taiwan (Director's Cut).
You can't miss out on the miner's lunch box either
There are many miner's lunch box stores at the entrance to the Gold Museum. They all claim to be the original, but in fact, they are all similar. Miner's lunch boxes are rice with grilled or fried pork ribs and pickled vegetables, and they are not the actual food that miners ate, but are served in the bowls that miners used. However, they are secretly delicious, so they are popular.
