Nagasaki Kunchi Festival

Nagasaki Kunchi is a festival that holds splendid performances on four stages every year at Suwa Shrine, Otabisho, Yasaka Shrine, and Chuo Park, and is one of the largest traditional festivals in Nagasaki. Among them, the Hono Odori (奉納踊り) performed by local representatives is considered the highlight of the festival, so be sure to come and enjoy it!

The highlight of the festival, Hono Odori
There are currently 58 "odorimachi" (dance towns) in Nagasaki City, and these towns are divided into 7 groups and take turns participating in the festival. Every year, each town that takes its turn in the festival shows a different style of Hono Odori, and there are many different types, including dragon dances, whale dances, and mikoshi (portable shrines), making it a lot of fun to watch.
