Queenstown Gibbston Valley Wineries Self-Guided Bike Tour

Take the shuttle to the start point
and collect your bike

Ride the scheduled shuttle from the Around The Basin store in Queenstown to the start point. The full-day option starts in Arrowtown, while the 3/4-day and half-day options start at the bike hub at Arrow Junction, about 5 km from the Kawarau suspension bridge.

Collect a premium mountain bike or e-bike, a helmet and a winery map, and receive a trail navigation and safety briefing from the experienced team. An e-bike is recommended for extra help on the hills.

Cross rivers and suspension bridges to the Kawarau Bridge

Ride the bike trail along the beautiful Arrow and Kawarau rivers, crossing suspension bridges along the way, until you reach the Kawarau Bridge, home of the world-famous bungy jump.

Visit wineries along the Gibbston River Trail

From the Kawarau Bridge, cruise along the Gibbston River Trail. Using the map, visit any of the many wineries linked to this gentle trail, and explore wine cellars, a cheesery and a tavern. Stop for a leisurely lunch at one of the venues along the way.

On the full-day option, it is 15 km to the first winery and 25 km to the last. On the 3/4-day and half-day options, it is 6 km to the first winery and 16 km to the last.

Ride the shuttle back to Queenstown

The scheduled shuttle picks you up at the place and time given in your briefing and takes you back to Queenstown. The return pickup time is the same for all options: 4:30 PM in summer (September 1 - April 30) and 4:00 PM in winter (May 1 - August 31).
