From Queenstown: Doubtful Sound Cruise Day Trip

by coach and lake cruise

Board a premium coach at the RealNZ Visitor Centre in Queenstown and travel along the shores of Lake Wakatipu and through rolling countryside to Manapouri (about 2 hours 20 minutes). Your driver provides informative commentary along the way.

At Manapouri, cruise across crystal-clear Lake Manapouri to West Arm for about an hour.

Cross Wilmot Pass through the rainforest

At West Arm, board a coach again and travel to Deep Cove along the alpine road over Wilmot Pass, passing through some of the lushest rainforest in Fiordland National Park (about 1 hour).

Cruise Doubtful Sound for 3 hours

At Deep Cove, board the Patea Explorer for a 3-hour cruise exploring the quiet, secluded waterways of the fiord. Admire waterfalls, rainforest, mountains and wildlife while your nature guide shares engaging commentary. On rainy days, waterfalls appear everywhere, making the scenery even more dramatic.

On the water, experience a stillness broken only by the rush of waterfalls and birdsong. Bring your own lunch or buy drinks and snacks at the onboard café.

Return to Queenstown the way you came

After the cruise, cross Wilmot Pass again by coach, cruise back across Lake Manapouri and return by coach to the Queenstown Visitor Centre (about 2 hours 15 minutes).
