From Calgary or Banff: Kootenay National Park, Marble Canyon & Radium Hot Springs Day Tour

for Kootenay National Park

Depart from the Coast Calgary Downtown Hotel (8:00 AM) or Banff Aspen Lodge (9:35 AM). A bilingual Chinese-English guide leads the way in an air-conditioned tour vehicle on this roughly 10-hour tour.

First, stop at the Great Divide, the continental divide that marks the border between Alberta and British Columbia and separates rivers flowing to the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.

Walk along the limestone gorge of Marble Canyon

At Marble Canyon, spend about 45 minutes on the trail above the gorge, looking down at layered rock walls shaped by more than 8,000 years of erosion and the glacial water rushing through. Then stop at the Kootenay Valley Viewpoint for sweeping views of the winding river valley and the ancient Western Ranges of the Canadian Rockies.

Relax at Radium Hot Springs

Take about 1 hour for a break and lunch in Kootenay National Park (meal not included). Then spend about 90 minutes at Radium Hot Springs. If you like, soak in the odorless mineral hot spring pools beneath the red cliffs of Sinclair Canyon. Entry to the hot springs is optional and paid on site; if you don't wish to go in, you can explore the nearby trails instead.

Stroll Sinclair Canyon and head back

Take a short walk at Sinclair Canyon, enjoying the Douglas fir forest, views over the Columbia Valley and the canyon waterfall. After the tour, return to your chosen drop-off point (Coast Calgary Downtown Hotel or Banff Aspen Lodge).
