Set off on the Icefields Parkway
with a professional guide
Depart early in the morning from Calgary, Canmore or Banff and head north in an air-conditioned van or shuttle. Along the way, your certified guide shares stories about the geology and ecology of the Rocky Mountains.
At the first stop, the Crowfoot Glacier viewpoint (about 25 minutes), your guide explains how the glacier's shape has changed. Then at Bow Lake (about 35 minutes), see the lake framed by Crowfoot Glacier and Bow Peak, and learn about the history of the historic Num-Ti-Jah Lodge.
Walk up with your guide to
the Peyto Lake upper viewpoint

Take a short guided walk to the Peyto Lake upper viewpoint and look down on the turquoise lake spreading out in the shape of a wolf's head (about 50 minutes). After a short refreshment break at Saskatchewan River Crossing, enjoy a panorama of the jagged peaks of the northern parkway from the Waterfowl Lakes viewpoint (about 20 minutes).
Meet the Athabasca Glacier
at the Columbia Icefield

After driving along the Icefields Parkway, arrive at the Columbia Icefield and take a break for lunch at the Discovery Centre. See the Athabasca Glacier and, if you wish, join the Glacier Adventure aboard the Ice Explorer (about 2 hours) and the Skywalk, a glass-floored platform above the Sunwapta Valley (about 50 minutes).
※ Columbia Icefield Adventure and Skywalk tickets are not included. You usually arrive around 1:30 PM, so please book a time slot between 2:00 PM and 2:45 PM.
※ From mid-October to early May, when the Adventure and Skywalk are closed, Lake Louise and Johnston Canyon are visited instead of the Columbia Icefield.
※ Wildlife lives in its natural habitat, so sightings are not guaranteed.
