From Calgary: Moraine Rockpile, Lake Louise & Johnston Canyon Lower Falls Hike - Small Group

and explore Banff National Park in a day

This small-group tour for up to 14 people starts at 7:30 AM (Calgary departure) and lasts about 10 hours. An English-speaking driver-guide leads the way in an air-conditioned vehicle, with commentary and photo stops along the route. A photo challenge runs throughout the tour as your guide shares photo spots and tips, and the winner receives a prize at the end.

Admire Lake Louise and Moraine Lake

In the morning, stroll along the shore of Lake Louise and take in the turquoise water and mountain views. You can enjoy coffee or browse for souvenirs at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, and if time allows, walk further toward the Victoria Glacier.

At Moraine Lake, follow your guide up the Rockpile Trail to look down on the turquoise lake. There is also a café and a souvenir shop here.

Hike to the Lower Falls of Johnston Canyon

At lunchtime, stop at Samson Mall to buy simple local food, and relax at the picnic tables by the Bow River (meal cost not included). The itinerary also lists Emerald Lake (about 1 hour) and the Natural Bridge (about 30 minutes) in Yoho National Park.

Then walk the Johnston Canyon trail to the Lower Falls, enjoying the forest, canyon walls, rapids and waterfall.

Finish on Banff Avenue or at nearby Banff sights

Guests staying in Calgary or Canmore get free time on Banff Avenue for strolling and shopping. Guests already staying in Banff visit two nearby sights such as Bow Falls or Cascade Ponds, depending on the day's schedule.
