A day trip by bus from Tokyo Station or Shinjuku Station to Hakone and the Mt. Fuji area. Visit Hakone Shrine, famous for its red torii gate standing in Lake Ashi, then ride the Hakone Ropeway (one-way fare included) to the volcanic valley of Owakudani. At Owakudani, you can taste the famous black eggs boiled in hot spring water, and in the afternoon you stop at Lake Yamanaka's swan beach and Oshino Hakkai. A multilingual guide accompanies you, and you can add a Lake Ashi pirate ship cruise if you wish.

Leave Tokyo by bus
for Hakone Shrine
Meet your guide at JR Tokyo Station at 7:30 AM or Shinjuku Station at 8:00 AM and travel about 2 hours by air-conditioned bus. Around 10:30 AM, arrive at Hakone Shrine, founded in 757, and spend about 50 minutes admiring the red Peace Torii in Lake Ashi and exploring freely.
Enjoy Lake Ashi by pirate ship and Hakone Ropeway

Around noon, you can take the optional Lake Ashi pirate ship cruise (about 25 minutes, approx. 1,700 JPY extra). Ride a themed ship such as the Royal II, Victory or Queen Ashinoko while viewing the lake and the torii; if you skip the cruise, the tour vehicle takes you to Togendai Ropeway Station free of charge.
Around 12:30 PM, board the Hakone Ropeway and enjoy about 30 minutes of views over Lake Ashi and the surrounding mountains. The one-way ropeway fare is included.
Taste black eggs in the volcanic valley of Owakudani

Around 1:00 PM, arrive at Owakudani, a geothermal valley formed by an eruption of Mt. Hakone about 4,000 years ago, and stay for about 50 minutes. Explore the valley with your guide and taste the local specialty black eggs boiled in volcanic hot spring water. Lunch is not included, so bring your own or eat at the sites or a restaurant recommended by your guide.
See Mt. Fuji from Lake Yamanaka and Oshino Hakkai

Around 3:00 PM, spend about 20 minutes taking photos of swans with Mt. Fuji in the background at the swan beach of Lake Yamanaka, one of the Fuji Five Lakes. Around 3:40 PM, explore Oshino Hakkai, with its eight clear ponds formed by Mt. Fuji's snowmelt, for about 30 minutes. Depart around 4:10 PM and arrive back at the morning meeting point in Tokyo Station or Shinjuku around 6:10 PM.
※ Views of Mt. Fuji depend on the weather and are not guaranteed.
※ If the Hakone Ropeway is not operating, a refund for it is available.
※ Return times depend on traffic and weather and may be delayed by several hours in peak season, on weekends and Japanese holidays.
