Make traditional Japanese sweets called "nerikiri" by hand and enjoy a matcha tea ceremony in this Japanese culture class in Tokyo. Color white and red bean paste made by a long-established shop in Kyoto and shape two seasonal sweets in the form of flowers or fruit. Then prepare your own tea with single-origin matcha and enjoy it together with the sweets you made. Over about 95 minutes, learn about Japanese tea and confectionery culture step by step with an instructor.

Shape traditional nerikiri sweets
with your own hands
The experience starts with an introduction to traditional Japanese desserts. Nerikiri is a refined Japanese confection made from colored white bean paste and shaped into seasonal flowers or fruit. You will do everything yourself, from coloring the bean paste to shaping the final piece.
Make a flower nerikiri and a kinton nerikiri

Following the instructor's demonstration, first make a flower-shaped nerikiri and then a "kinton nerikiri" to complete two sweets. You will use white and red bean paste produced by a long-established shop in Kyoto. After making the sweets, there is a short break.
Experience a tea ceremony with Uji matcha

After the break, listen to an explanation about tea, watch a demonstration of how matcha is prepared, and then prepare your own tea with Uji matcha. There is also time to take photos during the experience.
Enjoy your sweets with matcha

After the tea ceremony, enjoy the sweets you made together with the matcha you prepared. Taste the gentle sweetness of the bean paste alongside the slightly bitter matcha. The whole experience takes about 95 minutes.
※ The instructor speaks Japanese, and English translation is provided as much as possible.
※ If the experience is canceled due to a temporary closure such as a typhoon, the experience fee is fully refunded, but travel expenses to the venue are not covered.
