Highlights
This tour from Sapporo covers Asahiyama Zoo and the natural highlights of Biei in one day. At Asahiyama Zoo, you have plenty of free time to see polar bears and Hokkaido natives such as red pandas and foxes in spaces that mimic the wild. at Asahiyama Zoo
After a drive of about 2 hours from Sapporo, you'll arrive at Asahiyama Zoo. Explore at your own pace for about 2 hours and see polar bears in their unique enclosures, as well as Hokkaido natives such as red pandas and foxes living in forest-like spaces that mimic the wild.
See the Ken and Mary Tree and the Biei hills

Leaving the zoo, the bus passes the Ken and Mary Tree. Without getting off, you can enjoy Hokkaido's iconic scenery from your seat, including green hills, vast dairy farms and distant mountain peaks.
Walk to Shirahige Falls and the Shirogane Blue Pond
At Shirahige Falls, take a short walk to the viewing platform surrounded by dense forest and fresh mountain air. Then continue to the Shirogane Blue Pond, one of Biei's most famous sights. Sunlight reflecting off fine aluminum particles in the water gives it a cobalt-blue color like a sapphire set in the forest. You'll spend about 20 minutes each at the falls and the pond.
Stop by the fairytale-like Ningle Terrace
Finally, spend about 30 minutes at Ningle Terrace, where small wooden cabins and elf dolls and figures are scattered around, perfect for photos and small souvenirs. After sightseeing, you'll drive about 2 hours back to Sapporo.
