Explore the behavioral exhibits
of Asahiyama Zoo
After about 2 hours and 50 minutes by bus from Sapporo, you'll spend about 2 hours at Asahiyama Zoo for free time and lunch. The zoo is famous for its innovative "behavioral exhibits," where animals move freely in carefully designed spaces. See penguins swimming overhead, seals gliding through a glass tunnel and polar bears in a dynamic natural setting.
Drive the Biei Patchwork Road
and visit photo spots
Enjoy the countryside as you pass the rolling hills of Biei's Patchwork Road, covered with a variety of crops. Stop for about 15 minutes at the Seven Stars Tree, made famous by a cigarette advertisement, and see the Ken and Mary Tree, featured in a Japanese TV commercial, from the bus window.
Admire the Blue Pond and Shirahige Falls
Admire the blue waters of the Blue Pond, then spend about 20 minutes at Shirahige Falls, where water flows gently through cracks in the rock like a white beard. The white streams contrast beautifully with the vivid blue river below.
In summer, stroll the lavender fields
of Farm Tomita
From July 1 to September 15, the tour visits Farm Tomita, a flower farm in Furano, for about 1 hour instead of Shirahige Falls. Famous for its summer lavender fields, it lets you stroll among the flowers, enjoy the relaxed countryside and try lavender ice cream. The bus then returns to Sapporo in about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
